IBPS is all set to start online Common Recruitment Process for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and Public Sector Banks (PSBs). Recently, IBPS has released official notifications for the post of Office Assistant and Officer and their Preliminary Exams are expected to be scheduled in the month of August 2019. But, still, to answer in a better way, we should discuss, which examination is tougher to crack for the aspirants. It is difficult to make the decision but we should discuss various parameters, which will help us in coming to a positive conclusion.
  1. Difficulty Level of Examination: - In IBPS Clerk exam, the questions are of basic level and involves less calculations as compared to IBPS PO exam. IBPS PO exam is an officer’s level exam and so it’s presumably tougher. Likewise, the English section is easier in IBPS Clerk exam while questions based on Reading Comprehension and Cloze Test is relatively tougher in IBPS PO exam. The candidate’s command over English Grammatical and Vocabulary skills are checked at a very higher level in IBPS PO exam.
  2. Number of Vacancies: - In IBPS Clerk exam, the vacancies are state-wise whereas in IBPS PO exam, vacancies are nationwide. Similarly, in IBPS Clerk exam, there is an also local language criterion, so a candidate from any other state cannot apply, if he is not proficient in applied local language. It means that if a candidate wants to work in any other state then he has to proficient in the local language of that particular state. In IBPS Clerk exam, there might be a huge probability that there are fewer vacancies in his home town. It implies that his probabilities of selection are meager in his hometown. So, the level of competition looks tougher in IPBS Clerk exam than IBPS PO exam.
  3. Cut-Off Marks: - As we have discussed earlier, the difficulty level of questions are higher in IBPS PO exam than IBPS Clerk exam. It indicates that the cut-off marks for IBPS PO exam will be lower than that of IBPS Clerk exam. So, the cut-off marks for IBPS Clerk exam is higher, as it has asked questions are of basic nature. The previous year cut-off for IBPS PO was 76 out of 200, whereas for IBPS Clerk (Delhi), it was 89.88 out of 100 (180 out of 200), which is difficult to score for an average candidate.
Despite the fact the difficulty level of IBPS Clerk is lower than that of IBPS PO exam but still the competition is tougher for IBPS Clerk, as cut-off is much higher. IBPS PO exam is an Officer’s level exam, which will predictably be more complicated and will check the conceptual knowledge of every concept through tricky set of questions. It’s a nationwide selection process and so meritorious candidates will have better chances of cracking this exam. On the other hand, the number of applicants and cut-off marks will be reasonably higher for IBPS Clerk exam and so probability of selection of candidates will be very low. It will make competition tougher for IBPS Clerk exam. Now, it’s all up to the candidates to make a final decision in selecting banking competitive exam of their choice and preference.
