What is the difference between SBI PO and IBPS PO exam?

In India, the banking competitive exams (SBI PO and IBPS PO exams) have always considered as biggest as well as most promising mode of job opportunity, where millions of aspirants tries their luck every year. Commonly speaking, SBI PO exam is tougher than IBPS PO in many ways but both these exams are equally popular among candidates.

The first basic difference is the number of vacancies which is offered by these two exams. In IBPS PO exam, which is a recruitment process conducted for the selection of bank PO for public sector banks (other than SBI), offers around 20,000 plus vacancies. On contrary, SBI PO 2019 exam, a recruitment process conducted for the selection of bank PO for SBI banks, offers around 2000 plus vacancies, where around 20 millions candidates battle out for their place. From this information, it can concluded that the cut-offs for the bank exams are directly proportional to the number of vacancies. It implies that more the vacancies, lesser the cut-off and so the exam will be very easy and vice-versa. Thus, the cut-offs for SBI PO exam is very high than that of IBPS PO exam, and difficulty levels of questions will be very high and selection process will be diversified to test candidates numerous abilities.

In SBI PO Mains exam, there are four sections (Data Analysis & Interpretation (45 questions,60 marks, 60 minutes), Reasoning & Computer Aptitude (35 questions, 60marks, 45 minutes), English (30 questions, 30 marks, 40 minutes), General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness (40 questions, 40 marks, 35 minutes). There are total of 155 questions and the total marks are 200. The exam pattern of IBPS PO exam is different. The candidates should be ready for many surprises on the examination day. The questions asked in IBPS PO exam are comparatively more straightforward and less time consuming. In IBPS PO exam, the final selection is dependent on your interview while in SBI PO exam; you have to clear both group discussion and interview round to get yourself selected. Despite the fact that SBI PO exam offers low vacancies, the craze for clearing this exam is more than clearing IBPS PO exam.
